EOS 1Ds Mk II rear control dial doesn't seem to work

Hello. My EOS 1Ds Mk II has a problem. The rear control dial doesn't seem to work, in that it never changes any setting in shooting mode. In all other respects it works fine, but in M mode for instance, the front control dial changes shutter speed but the rear does zilch. Likewise, flash exposure comp., regular comp. both don't work with the rear dial. Am I missing something? The on/off switch is on, but the camera behaves like it's off. The dial DOES work for menu selection and moving around the menus.

I have reset the custom options, cleared the personal settings, and reset the date time. The firmware is current. It doesn't *feel* broken as the dial DOES work with any non-shooting menu or option.

Are you accidently pushing on it while turning it? I'm not sure about the 1DsII but some of the newer 1D bodies have a kind of D-pad style function, maybe that's affecting things?

Other than that, I dunno man, kinda a mystery. Could be just a physical problem seeing as that camera is kinda old now... depends on how much you've used it.
