Great vid and information. It cleared up my confusion over LR3 & CS5. Now instead of trying to figure out which one I should buy, now I have to figure out how in the heck I am going to afford both of them......

Don I have both and believe you me they work brilliantly together, yes they are expensive but worth every penny, Its good that they are now offering a subscription service as well, makes it more affordable.

Mark - another wonderful and helpful video.

In a sentence, Lightroom manages images and Photoshop manages pixels. As you said, all serious photographers need Lightroom to keep track of and enhance their photos. Some photographers need Photoshop to make fine edits on photos or create complex images.

Lightroom does everything that Bridge, Minibridge, and CameRaw can do but with a much, much easier and more intuitive interface. I found Lightroom to be life-changing as I started capturing thousands of images. I find Photoshop is a life-long learning experience - it will do anything but getting there can be a challenge.

Thanks.

If you are new to both of them lightroom first. Both have a learning curve. I have used PS for a decade so I have a pretty good understanding of the program. I used Picasa when I was on my PC for file organization. Started using iPhoto for a brief moment when I changed to mac 3 years ago then quickly learned Apertur. Upgraded to lightroom a year ago. I use lightroom 98% of the time now. Only occasionally need PS for really specific effects.

into photographing old architecture that has lost its symmetry because of age. Accidental architecture.

Great video Mark. Thanks! I teach digital photography at Colorado Mountain College and this video will go far in furthering my students understanding. :goodpost:

My school only has CS5 and every semester I find myself extolling the virtues of LR. And that means having to explain the differences. Your video validated my method of explaining the two and will serve as a great review for my students.

Now, if I could only get my school to get with it!

Regards from Colorado...
