With the same set up I made my hubby pose. His expression is interesting, but I am worrying about editing and lighting.
Seriously, though.
I think you're worrying way too much. It looks like you've got the lights on either side, even, and there's lots of coverage. However, you're getting multiple catchlights in the eye. It looks like the light at camera left is up above; try moving the camera right light down below a bit? Or around behind for some rim lighting?
Generally, with 3 lights, at least one is behind the subject, perhaps far above (hair light).
But really, the subjects are quite clear, and the lighting isn't so flat that there's no definition. I'd say good job. The dog is great.
Nits:
The focus is on the end of the nose. Try for the eye.
Don't care for this lens for the dog; is there room for a slightly longer one you can use?
When you have >1 catchlights, apparently the SOP is to remove all but one in post. Just sayin'.
. I can definitely change and tweak more. , I didn't have a light behind them due to the lights from the tree, but will definitely be doing that next time.
