Am I allowed to post a photo inspired by the OP or is that not allowed?

Not sure they are any good as not looked at them yet but took them today.

Well, I'm the OP and I say ... let's see what you got. ;)

Obviously not anything like yours but hopefully allowed as they do have some rust on them somewhere.

Took photos of the this container before due to the colours on a very rare sunny day but never used the rust, so thanks.

I see here an interesting subject that offers more opportunities.  You want a critique? Ideas?

Yes please, the only way to learn :)

Sorry for taking so long; I got busy.  My main advice would be after you shoot the overall subject (which I would have done too), don't stop there.  Really work it.  Move in close, either by moving yourself or with a long focal length or both, and isolate parts of it.  This subject has lots of parts to work with ... multiple colors of paint, parallel lines in the structure itself (and some no longer parallel but bent out-of-shape), lines of alternating highlight and shadow, and some really rusty spots (that aren't really prominent in the "big picture" images.  Don't stop 'til you run out of ideas ... some won't work out, but some will.  I took the liberty of working on some parts of your images to illustrate some ideas.  They're severe crops and they're further compressed, so quality suffers but they all could have been done in-camera.

#1 ... I like it.  My eye goes to what I think is the most interesting part ... the rusty lifting point to top right.  The lines lead the eye right there, so that's good.  But what if we isolate that really rusty part, like this...

#2 ... I don't think the foreground and expanse of sky add to the image.  So I'd crop most of that out ... leaving some of the nice blue sky to contrast with the multi-colors:

Love all those parallel lines.  And the mixed colors.  But isolating just a part of it makes it stronger:

And suppose we rotate the camera to make the lines diagonal.  The result is more dynamic:

Wait a minute; we know how to make parallel lines converge ... tilt the lens axis away from perpendicular to the subject plane, let's try that:

If done in-camera it would be better.  And you could also maybe adjust depth-of-field to emphasize one or more rusty or color spots while the lines fade off into blurriness, maybe.

#3 ... Lots of rust so another spot to isolate.  By doing so, we show off the textures.  If I were there, I'd get right down there and get even closer on that rust.

Thanks hghlndr6, had a very quick go at it but it was very, very rushed. As you say and show closeups are more effected. Will post some if any are decent enough or a good concept.

Great series! #3 & #4 are my favourites... but then again the contrast in #1 is super-appealing! Well shot!
