ICE 77mm ND1000 Filter Neutral Density

$30 bucks for a 10 stop ND filter?  This might be a crappy filter, I hope not.  At least Amazon is good about returns.  Any chance any of you have this filter:  www.amazon.com/ICE-ND1000-Neutral-Densit...1F99XGZ2CAM9G3BS12FC  


I'm really curious if it has any wacky tones it leaves behind?  If this works, this would make a super cheap alternative to the Lee big stopper.

Unfortunately, with no customer reviews, it seems more of a risk than a good deal.

The primary problem (from what I've read) with ND filters is a color cast. If you take a shot of a whibal card, you may have enough ability to remove said cast in post.

Or, buy it, try it, if it stinks send it back.  Post a review in any event, to help others.

Well it is a straight 10 stop filter, so as others said coloration could be the only problem. I thought that it was probably a plastic element filter, but the specs say it is glass. I also noted that the prices on the other 10 stop filters have come down as well. I think that the variable filters are going to make straight stop filters dirt cheap.

Well I just bought and tried this filter out a couple of times. I gotta say that I'm rather impressed with the "bang for the buck factor" for this piece of glass. Until i got this filter, i was using a circular screw on 10-stop by Tiffen and the color cast was absolutely horrible, even to the point where i could not fix it in Lightroom.

When i used the ICE filter i could tell a difference right off the top through my viewfinder. The colors where much cooler than the Tiffen which made anything green into a burned brown. I could actually correct any color cast very easily in Lightroom.

Great glass, even better price. I have nothing negative to say about it so far.
