How many shutter clicks are Nikon D700's good for?

I just bought a used D700 with mid 50k on the shutter, I was under the impression the camera would have had less.  I can't get ahold of the seller now and concerned about the deal I got and how many shutter clicks this camera is good for.

I believe it has a "rated" life of 150,000, but that means little. As I stated in another thread, fifty thousand is nothing, in fact you should endeavor to wear the thing out. The best way is to take a LOT of pictures! If its working well, be happy you have one of the best DSLRs ever made!!

Why so serious?

The Nikon shutter ratings are MTBF (mean time before failure), so statistically the average camera won't fail until after 150,000 clicks. It's not something that's guaranteed though. Some fail much sooner, some much later. Statistically, you can reasonably expect to get to around 150,00 without a problem. Shutter replacement isn't horrifically costly though. Stop fretting and start shooting

The D700 is a fantastic camera. I shot two of them as my workhorses for years and shot one to over 700,000 and the other over 500,000. Plus, cost to put in a new shutter from Nikon was $300 . A new shutter does NOT reset the counter. When I replaced both shutters, it was done only to make them easier to sell to folks that are concerned about such hogwash. If I am buying a used camera, I am far more concerned about virtually everything EXCEPT shutter count.
