Hello,

I'm looking to upgrade and get me the Nikon D810. I now own the Nikon D90. My question is, am i able to use the lens i have for the D90 on the D810? Or do I have to purchase brand new lens for the D810?

Your lenses will fit & work, although if any are DX format (the will say DX on them), then they will only be able to be utilized in the DX crop mode. That means a smaller file size than an FX lens would produce.

Why not tell us what lenses you have? Maybe they're not DX?

Why so serious?

I think that any lens can be used. What you may find is vignetting in your fullframe images. Which may or may not be a problem for you. Generally, lenses designed to render a larger image are going to be what you want, but there's no reason your transition can't be slow. Older AF lenses will work just fine. Which means you can go shopping for old non-motorized lenses, as long as you are sure as to what will work on your body.

You are going to love that D810!  Yes your glass will work just fine assuming you have FX.  If not, and glass is DX, as Scott stated, your D810 will shot in DX.
