Nikon D40 or D70 good for infrared conversion?

I want a IR camera and looking at used Nikon bodies on Craigslist and found some pretty sweet deals on these older bodies.  Will the D40 or D70 make a good IR camera?

A lot of people do it with a D70. The sensor is more sensitive to IR.... I used to use an R72 Hoya IR Pass filter on my old D70s with good results. Never did get the conversion done though...After awhile the images get old, at least to me anyway... I've seen cameras that were already converted up for sale. Just keep your eyes open...

  :agree:
Yeah pretty much how I see it. I would use the filter over converting. I see the conversion a lot like people who think having a fisheye lens would be great, they use them a few times, and then they either sell them, or they sit in their bags/drawer never to be used again. Personally I like my fisheye, and actually use it at times.
The other beauty of the filter route, is that you can try it out now on your current camera. That way if you tire of it after a few months, you are not stuck with a camera you will use once in a blue moon.
