Aloha Fam!

I am just starting to get into photography really seriously and need some critique on a photoshoot I did earlier yesterday. Looking for C&C on composition, fundamentals, and anything actually. Just needed to see what mistakes I am making and how I can mature as a photographer.

A fun shot (which is very important).  A few nit-pics:  I would like to see the camera height a little lower and aimed a little more toward the right (even though this would move the tracks out of the center).  Some fill from a flash or reflector would be nice.  As for post, I think the contrast is slightly high.

Keep at it!

To lower your contrast, shoot closer to the time of sunrise or sunset.

I see this as a portrait shot. I would love to see her eyes.
Maybe do something else with her hands, this looks like she is too aware of the camera.

Love the plain dress.

I agree with Kelly's post.

I have no idea what you're trying to do here. Is this a portrait, a fashion shot, ...?

Compositionally you have competing elements: the tracks and the model. What sould I be looking at?

The time of day is unfortunate and creates harsh light that does not work in your favor. This is where an assistant and a scrim come in handy for reducing shadows, and fill flash is used to cast light upon your subject.

The image appears to me to tilt to the left. But maybe I haven't had enough coffee....

What is she doing with her hands? She's not engaged with the camera, and of course the sunglasses hide her eyes but aren't the focal point of the shot.

Do some research and see what others are doing with shots similar to this to help you figure out where to go with it.

Thanks for the C&C garyrhook! will for sure look into other poses and composition things like you have mentioned. This was just me wanting to practice with my wife so we just went out and stopped at this place near our home to get this shot. But I will for sure look into what others are doing!
