Can scratched glass on polarized filter be fixed?

I have a small scratch on my polarized filter and would like to know can this be fixed and if so, ball park idea of cost?  It's a 7/8" scratch that I can just barely feel with my finger nail.

I doubt that you will even be able to see any effects of the scratch on your images, Have you tried shooting with it to see ?...Just like if you shoot with a mirror lens, that big blob of plastic in the middle of the lens has no effect (other than donut shaped bokeh) in the image.... As for repairing it, if you could find someone to do it, it would likely be more expensive than buying a new one...

  :agree:
Yeah you have got that right on all counts. If you have a scratch or any obstruction on a front element of the lens even it will not show up easily, or affect image quality. You can literally crack your front element in half, and still use it. The only time it would really show up is when the incident light hits it, otherwise it will work. Now if you scratch a real element that is a different story altogether.
To take the scratch out would cost you more than buying a new one. The reason for this is that you have to grind it out, and yet keep the glass flat, and I can tell you it is a lot of work to grind a true flat. If you merely polish the scratch out locally they you will have a distortion in that area that will show up due to it focusing the light differently. I have ground glass for a flat for a telescope before, and swore I would never do one again in my life. It is cheaper and easier to buy one over grinding your own.

Are you able to see anything in your photos when using this?  I would be surprised if you did.

I wouldn't bother with it, mostly cost more than what it would cost to replace.  I would be surprised if you could see it in photos.

That's a fairly long scratch, but it probably won't affect anything.
