You sure can, but the OP who has yet to return, would have an even larger problem with DoF with that setup.

Not only shallow DOF, but they would be unable to to meter either... No electrical contacts mean all exposure settings would have to be guesswork. Not hard to do, but a pain in the patootee... Then you also have an exposed rear element that you have to worry about damaging (anything on the rear element is much more noticeable than something on a front element. Add to that ,that you would likely be right on top of your subject & lighting it would be difficult. Then you don't have the ability to change the magnification ratio like a true macro lens, in other words, when you are in focus, your subject may be only partially in the frame of the image...Reversing a shorter lens on a longer one works a bit better, but a true macro lens is still the best, most convenient way to go...
