Why did you choose the brand of camera that you have?

Well for it it was a case of Pentax dragging its feet into the digital arena. I shot film solely with Pentax, my MX being the last one. I had been playing with digitals for fun over the years while still shooting film. My first was the Sony Mavica which I played with for quite a while. Then I picked up the Nikon Coolpix995 and really liked the image quality, so my MX got used a lot less. I was really happy with the CP995, so when the D50 came out I decided to try a Dslr. The one thing I liked about Nikon over Canon as well was the ability to use legacy lenses on the bodies, something that kept me with Pentax in the film days. So that is why I am with Nikon.

Nikon because I like the files.

I started off with a Minolta XG2 - it was a birthday present, so I guess I didn't get to choose the brand. However, my next camera was a Minolta 7000i, which I bought second hand as I need to replace the aging and damaged XG2. That said I had to buy lenses for it as well as the XG2 had a different lens fitting. The first digital camera I got was a Canon Powershot A710. In all honesty I can't recall why I chose Canon as a brand. I'm sure there must have been other brands on offer at the time. I've stuck with Canon since then and have bought a EOS 450D, EOS 300X and a Powershot A1200. Luckily the Lenses I have for the 450D are compatible with the 300X (which is why I bought it - from time to time I still do a bit of film photography). I would like to upgrade in the near future to a full frame DSLR but it would have to be compatible with the lenses I have.   :)
