If you could have ONLY 1 prime lens...

to use for the rest of your life as a photographer, what prime would you have?

(Sunday morning and I'm stuck at home with a head cold, so I'm board!)

Hope you feel better!

For me it would be the 85mm.  You get a good lens for portraits, macro and it's not to shabby with landscapes either.

I'm going to agree on that 85mm

I am thinking that a nice fast "normal" lens would do 90% of the shots that I like to do, preferably one for a medium format film camera.

It is what it is.

If I could only have one lens and it would be a prime?  I would go back to the 50mm on this one.

Specious question. I wouldn't.

That said, the only prime I want is an 85mm. I quite dislike 50mm.

Yeah you can pry my prime lenses from my dead hand. I do a lot of landscape shots, and nature. So I would have to go with the 24mm, though I would rather have a prime zoom if I was forced to one lens.
