How do you deal with last minute cancellations?

9 years 10 months ago #382150 by Sandy Smith Photos
I'm supposed to be photographing a couple tomorrow who has left a deposit for the shoot.  The curve here is that this is the second last minute cancellations they have given me on the job.  Something always seems to come up.  I would hate to walk from this as they've been a client of mine for a number of years.  Her message was "Hi Sandy, sorry to do this to you again, something came up and we need reschedule our photo session with you tomorrow for another day, I'll call you on Thursday to reschedule".

How would you deal with this?

Well I have been in a business where this happens quite often. Since these are regular clients I would work with them to a point. But they will now have to work around your schedule to get this done. If this was a new client it would be a case of so sad, too bad, you lost your deposit when you canceled the second time. This does not really apply here, because sometimes things can happen in peoples lives where they have to change their plans. And since you know them well this is most likely one of those times, especially if before they were no problem before. If anything it will give you a better business relationship with them.

Joves brought up some good points.  Being an established client with you, I would give them a little more room for one more go at scheduling.  This flexibility might earn you some referrals and of course repeat business.

True, which means not letting this slide often

I would have trouble with this.  I can't stand flakes, past client or not.

It depends on a lot of things only the OP would  know, therefore the OP needs to make their own call on it.....

Why so serious?
