Post card marketing mailers

9 years 8 months ago #390729 by James L
Anyone try these?  I have company locally who is offering this service.  They design, print and mail everything for me.  So all I need to do as they stated is to "pick up the phone" when the new clients call.  I want to believe this method will work for new business, but then I remember what I do with mailers that come wadded up in my mail.

So, any one have luck with this?

For a photography business?

One word: no.

Don't even bother, you'll get no return on your effort. It's word of mouth and demonstrating your skills; random cards in the mail will be, IMO, worthless.

I wouldn't spend money there.  Usually all the mailer stuff like that is all bunched up together in my mailbox, and also get's tossed on the spot.  I believe most are this way, which is why you might be getting cheap prices.

The most effective way today to get new customers is mobile marketing.

I'm going to have to agree with each of you, this sort of marketing IMO died in the 90's.  These days everything is moving towards mobile this and mobile that.

Thank you for making PhotographyTalk.com your photography community of choice.

I don't think it would be as easy and simple as just sending them out and then sitting there answering phone calls - of course they promote it that way, they want people to buy their product. I agree with others they'd most likely seem like junk mail and get tossed.

I don't know that sending out postcards randomly would accomplish much. Could be useful maybe as a specific follow up or to hand out or make available if you were set up at some sort of event; I've seen them used more related to art exhibits, art shows, at artists co-ops, etc.
