Listing of what was done to refurbished camera?

9 years 8 months ago #391176 by Todd Phillips
I picked up a refurbished D700 from a private seller.  Apparently they bought that way.  I can't reach the person (bought this 4 months ago) and was trying to find out what was potentially replaced.  I know this is a long shot, is there a way or website that might have record of cameras that get refurbished?  Let me repeat, I understand this is one h#!! of a long shot!  Many moving parts, but I'm going to ask regardless.

Thanks for any help or advice

It has a serial number. Have you considered contacting Nikon to see what they will tell you about the device?

My guess is that the former owner has no information, and Nikon won't tell you about the pre-purchase service history.

Long shot, more like lost cause. You don't mention if you're experiencing problems. If not, are you just feeding the curiosity?

Why so serious?

Unless you are having problems I would not worry about it. Just keep shooting until it becomes and issue. Many people call a camera refurbished after it has had a simple service and maybe a shutter replaced.

I once bought a refurbished computer that had the work sheet with it. The work done was "plug in hard drive. Hard drive not plugged in." I saved a couple of hundred bucks on that baby.

With out knowing you did the work, could result in an endless journey of dead ends.
