Need help in choosing reflectors

9 years 7 months ago #398948 by Julie Staas
I don't own any reflectors and I would like to get one.  I have  couple questions though:

1.  How do you determine what size to buy?
2.  What's the difference between shapes?
3.  Need I bring up color?  Gold, Silver and white?

Thank you

Size is kind of the same rule as for softboxes.  A wider subject dictates a wider reflector.  They range from 20" fold-up reflectors for hand holding to huge Hollywood size panels that need a standup frame.  Linky for the fold-up jobs -

Or if you are handy, and can sew, make your own. You can google for DIY reflectors to see if it is something you would like to do. The best part about making your own is you are not restricted in size choices.

^^^ For me that would be a complete waste of time, given that the following is so inexpensive and versatile:

Personally, I went to the shop, picked one about the size I want. Paid for it and left.

Mine happens to have black/white/silver/gold all in one. It's not any particular brand.
