Help - filter won't come off lens

9 years 7 months ago #402822 by Nathan D
I bought a Hoya polarized filter and now it won't come off my lens.  I'm sure I didn't cross thread it.  How can I get this off with out destroying the filter?

Try wrapping a rubber band around the filter, without touching the lens. Then try to unscrew it. The added friction may get it to move IF you really haven't crosss-threaded it. I not, take it to a repair shop....

:agree:
Or even one of those rubber jar grips will work as well. For a CP though a good rubber band should do the trick.

Wouldn't it be funny to find out he was turning the outer ring only to try and get it off. :P

Get yourself a set of filter wrenches.... Plus buy better filters. Those with brass frames don't get jammed like the aluminum ones do...

Be careful, last year I had this happened and the filter fell apart when trying to remove!
