Does your spouse support or understand your interest with photography?

9 years 6 months ago #405705 by Glen Mosley
I'm happily married, and have been interested in photography for nearly 3 years.  My wife at times get's upset because I bring my camera with me all the time.  I'm taking photos of use too, but what get's her is the set up time I take for each frame vs take a quick shot with her camera.  She has a Nikon point and shoot camera that all she has to do is point and press the shutter.  To me, there's a big difference between a point and shoot camera and a DSLR.

Did your spouses support your photography interest from the start or did they 'warm up' to it over time?

Yes, but it cost me a camera. I have gotten her involved in photography.

This is why I am single.
Well one of the reasons, but not the only one. The only g/f I ever had that was a serious photographer shot another system, and was mad that I would not change over to hers so she could use my lenses. That one did not work out too well.

What?! Are you saying I am not pretty?

Most days yes, but when I fail to put the camera down.  You know what I'm talking about, then, she'll make a comment or two.

Another "yes & no" here... She likes when I have paid shoots, but she doesn't like it when I take my camera everywhere...Says I can't enjoy the places we go if all I'm doing is taking pictures.... She also says I have more than enough gear, even though most of it is quite a bit older stuff.

Well it depends, if I'm smart about things, yes, if I'm selfish and not paying attention to her, well then no, she's not to excited about my photography hobby.

Tricky question.  Most days yes, the other days when I'm having one of my 'moments' no
