iPhone 6, your back up camera?

9 years 4 months ago #417283 by EOS_Fan
Those that have this phone.  Have you spent much time playing around with the camera?  I'm surprised with it.  I don't see any reason why this can't be used as backup camera.  Thoughts?

Have you tried printing one of those shots, say, 11x14, that look so good on the little screen?:)

These phones cameras take great photos for their screen size, but I have to agree with John about any sort of prints will be not so great.

My wife used her iPhone 5s yesterday & I used my Samsung Galaxy S4.... My images were better.... Didn't bother with my DSLR's or point & shoots as they were all of the "snapshot" variety anyway......

Backup camera?  No.  However the camera on my iPhone in it's defense is pretty good for what it is.  I surprisingly use it often, mainly for the person side of my life.

I predict that someday soon - much as I hate to say it - DSLRs will become obsolete. Even today, I'm amazed at the quality and resolution available on the iPhone 6 and the Droid Turbo. In the next 5-10 years, phone cameras will win the battle, both for stills and video.

I'll argue against that. Point and shoots still don't have the quality of DSLR's, phone sensors are so small the noise is insane, have you seen some teenage girls posting selfies on facebook?? Mirrorless is getting closer but it still doesnt have that quality. In my opinion, there will always be a need for. DSLR because of the sensors and how they can cope with light much better than any standard camera on a phone will ever be able to do... Unless of course you want brick phones again, which is arguably DSLR first, phone second.

Thats my two cents.

You could not be more incorrect. The lenses alone are reason enough that mobile phones will not take over everything.

Consumer ignorance aside.

Oh, and some of us still think that the iPhone 6 camera is marginal, at best.
