How soon do you follow up with potential new engagement or wedding client?

I'm referring to when you send off a proposal, how long is it till you follow up with them for answer?  Up until this point I have just left it till I hear from them, or around the 2 week mark, I'll give them a call if I have not heard from them.  I'm thinking I might need to close that gap a little.  Do you think after 5 days would be okay for a follow up call?

You might also want to make it clear that until the contract is signed a deposit made, the date is open for anyone to take.

:agree:    Gary brings up a good point, when people know you have limited slots open, this creates a sense of urgency.  But this point needs to come across in a non-used car salesman way.

I'll always follow up with them with in 3 days.  I keep this call casual and more about following up to confirm receipt and to see if they had any questions.

You can follow up the following day and just casually "I wanted to confirm you received everything".

I don't think there is nothing wrong with following up 2-3 days after the contract was sent.  Just don't sound needy and like you are desperate for business.   Ask them if you answered all their concerns and let them know your schedule can lock up at any time, would they like you to schedule their event on your calendar?
