How much money have you spent (wasted) on your logo?

I have a new website being put together and the first part is trying to nail down my logo.  I have had 2 people put something together for me.  The first guy charged me $95 and I think this guy must have just pulled some basic clip art of a camera and added my name.  Which BTW isn't what I asked for.  I figured, I got what I paid for and decided to pay one of the pricer quotes I got that was $230.  Well I just got this back, and this guys is nearly as bad as the first.  WTH  $325 out the window.

A friend just told me about 99Designs.  Have any of you tried this company out for logo design?

While on topic, how much did your logo cost you?

That company has been mentioned on PT before. Do a search in the forum.

I traded family pics with a graphic artist for help in surfacing an idea and then putting things together. So, a few hundred dollars, I guess. But I'm happy.

You might want to spend some time thinking about your message and style first, then discuss, up front, your expectations and how the graphic designed will work with you if he/she misses the mark.

Unless you can design it yourself or know a graphic designer you can work with, try looking at websites of pro photographers organizations like ASMP or PPA. Some of their resources are available to anyone while some are for members, but membership to an organization is probably less than what you've already spent.

Apparently 99designs provides lots of choices but not necessarily good ones; they seem to expect designers to work for no guaranteed payment from a client/customer (so who's going to do that?). The provided logos could be from anyone who thinks they can design and wants to enter a 'contest'. Looks like you might get what you pay for.

I spend $5.00 and get beautiful logos made for my wordpress sites, business cards, etc.

If you have not discovered fiverr.com you need to check it out. Great logo design for just $5.00.

Seriously! Just go to fiverr.com and search for "logo design".

Go for the designers with the style you like and the highest ratings.
