Where to go to photograph volcano erupting?

Where would you have to go in order to get the highest chance of photographing a volcano erupting?  I'm guessing either Hawaii or Iceland?

Any idea which might have the highest probability of having a live one?

I think just try to check local news there or websites about those volcanos. YOu should find info you need.

Both of theareas you mentioned are currently active to my knowledge. Granted they are not heaving it out as if it was bottled up, but there are flows. Depends on if you want lava with snow, or lava with greenery. Personally I would hit Iceland because of the contrasts.

One of the safest places and best bets is Stromboli in Sicily, Europe.

It has been virtually constantly erupting for 1000s of years. If you are looking for Doomsday type explosions though it may not be what you are looking for.

And Sicily is a rather nice place to visit.

Didn't know there that many active ones.

Canon 7D, 15-85mm, 18-55mm, 70-200mm, 100mm Macro, Sigma 120-300mm, Speedlite 430EX II

A bad day at the race track is better than a good day in the office
