Dynamic range limited by the firmware in the camera?

I do think that they can eek out some more out of it, but getting the sensor to do so will take quite a bit of work. They are going to have to change both the design, and the sensors material to go further. They were trying to use the black silicon oxide, but I think that is going nowhere. Also I would think that making a four color channel sensor might help. I know it would help with a lot of the color rendition. It would cut down the steps needed to make many colors by adding a yellow channel.
