Beater camera for wedding gigs. Have you thought about doing this:

What do you think having an easy to use older beater camera with a kit lens to have handed around by wedding guest?  Toss in a 64GB memory card and let the guest go nuts with it.

I was thinking this might turn up some hilarious photos that the bride and groom might enjoy to have.

Film days I was at weddings where they had a throw-away camera at each table. At the end of the night it was collected from every table.

Putting disposable cameras at each table is not a new thing. I've heard that the results are (generally) not usable.

Folks have their mobile phones. The bride and groom could request contributions, but honestly... have you seen what passes for acceptable for most folks? I would not waste my time.

Well that is where the idea came from.  Honestly I have never tried it, and didn't even know if disposable cameras are even sold any more.  So a beater DSLR camera would be something not as easy to stuff in a pocket and accidentally walk off with.  I might need to rethink this master idea. :pinch:

More likely a "beater" DSLR and/or lens would get destroyed by some drunk. Gary is correct, everyone there will be firing off camera phones and its doubtful two people there could even operate a DSLR. I'd stick with the traditional stuff......

Why so serious?

:agree: I was going to say the same thing.   Some drunk will most likely drop your camera or bash the lens into something it shouldn't be.

A competition for the best mobile phone shot might make guests try harder?

Polaroids are big at weddings in Australia at the moment.
