Samyang 800mm lens for Astrophotography

Morning gang.  Any of you have experience with this lens? It's a mirror lens and it's cheap.  I'm wondering if you can get decent shots from this? It's a f/8, so not exactly fast, but for this price, my expectations are high.  Just wondering will it work for decent astrophotography shots?    www.amazon.com/Samyang-800mm-Mirror-White-Mount/dp/B006MKF2CS

The mirror telephotos are mostly junk.  Astrophotography is an expensive undertaking, there are no financial shortcuts.....:(

Why so serious?

:agree: Any of these f/8 lenses are probably going to have some serious sharpness issues.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

These lenses are tempting, but from what I have seen these are not worth getting.

So what is the downfall of these lenses, is it noise or speed?

Yes, and lack of sharpness.

My biggest disqualifier, do you want to spend say 500 bucks (Tamron) on a telephoto that ONLY  shoots at f8?.......

So who and why are people buying glass like this?  Is there any good purpose for them?
