So if Sony went belly up, who would make the sensors?

Seeing the other Sony thread here reminded me that they had some hefty losses last year.  If they went under, who would make the sensors?

Nikon 18-55mm VR, Nikon 70-200mm VRII f/2.8, Nikon 50mm f/1.8, Nikon 10.5mm Fisheye, Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8, SB-700 & SB-800

Sony only had losses in a couple of their divisions that affect the overall financial picture. But! In the unlikely event that they did go under someone would buy their sensor facilities. As it stands Sony is going to dump its unprofitable sections, and move on.
Also you have to look at how the people in the markets look at losses, and gains. Ever large corporation puts out a projection of what it will make profit wise for the next year in a prospectus to its shareholders, if they do not make that projection the Stock Market bunch see it as a loss. This is pure fantasy land thinking, and not real world thought, or common people thinking. The companies many times still make more than they spent, but just did not hit as much as they wanted. This world is the same world governments also work in, they claim they have cut spending, and that the world is going to collapse because of it. When in reality all of the agencies budgets are more than the previous year, but did not rise as much as it would have. In conclusion do not take these stories as reality. It is all just a part of the game.

Never would happen, not realistically at least.  They would sell of something to keep this part afloat.

Canon EOS 7D SLR | XT W/18-55 Kit Lens | Canon 50mm 1.8 | Tamron 17-50mm 2.8 | Canon 28-105mm | Canon 75-300mm | Canon 100mm 2.8 Macro | Canon 100-400
