Camera won't take photo when shutter is pressed

I'm renting out my condo and all my walls are white and the floors are a near white tile.  In auto focus, the camera won't fire.  It's not till I move the camera to manual focus I can finally get the camera to take the photo.  Is there a way around that?  I'm guessing the auto focus can't lock on anything because the room is nearly all white.

Try changing the release mode to CH instead of S. (I hope that made sense).  If on S mode it won't allow the shutter to activate because it doesn't see focus. I'll bet a dime to a doughnut that's it.......

Why so serious?

This is how my camera works...if on auto focus and a focus can't be made, then it won't fire.  Solution is to switch to manual focus.

Mine does this when I'm shooting macro.

In all three cases (these two and the OP) ... your AF Priority Selection is set to "focus."  The shutter will not release if the In'focus indicator is not displayed.

Change the selection to "release."  The shutter will now release whenever the release button is pressed, regardless of focus.

Like Ernesto said in a more cryptic manner.  ;)

If Nikon: Menu  >> Custom Settings Menu >> a. Autofocus
a1 -- AF-C priority selection
a2 -- AF-S priority selection

Set them differently or both the same, whatever works for you.

If not Nikon, I dunno

Mine does that too when it can't lock it, that's normal.  What I was told, there isn't enough contrast for the camera to lock in on.

So, did you get this working?
