Scratched ExpoDisc throw off white balance setting?

8 years 11 months ago #439766 by Harper Coswell
I managed to put a good size scratch into my ExpoDisc while balance filter.  Will this mess with the accuracy of the white balance settings?  The crack doesn't go through it, but it's a deep one.

Please let me know.  Thank you!!

No
Unless of course it is the width of a paint scraper across the center, but then the answer would be no. :P

I doubt it, it would have to be a huge crack

I was thinking the same thing, plus with it being so close to the sensor/lens.

You remind me that I have one of these that I have not used in a very long time!

:agree:
The sensor is gong to receive the light (data) from the entire Disc and a scratch would constitute such a small area with the aperture open.  I have heard that the white lid from A Duncan Donuts coffee cup has almost exactly an 18% grey color.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.
