Googles recent algorithm bad for photographer websites?

I currently have a website being built and was told today something about Google's most recent algorithm update is not good for photographer websites.

Does anyone know anything about this? Please share what you know.  Thank you

Without specifics it's difficult to understand their concern.

The biggest issue is, of course, having a mobile-friendly site. Past that I am unaware of any photography-related issues.

Take your concerns to your developer and see what they say.

Google is making chances often, I don't think any of their changes are aimed specifically at photographers.

I have been using Chrome for a while. I don't know exactly what changes they have made and how it effects photographers websites but they sure have screwed up my workflow at work. Government sites I use, both local and federal can't be accessed with Chrome anymore. Plug-ins like Silverlight and some others have been disabled by Google for use on Chrome. I now have to use Firefox for these sites and it has become bloated with advertisements and the like so it's barely usable or at least it is in my eyes. I wish they would change their minds and fix Chrome to work with these plug-ins again.

What ads? I use both FF and Chrome, both up to date, and haven't seen an new ads in FF...

If you want pain, try using Chrome on a Mac. Even a lousy PDF requires you to take extra steps to run the PDF plug-in.

Don't think the changes will affect photographer websites specifically. Not an expert but my understanding is that the changes put more emphasis on mobile search and local seo (maps, location searches, ect). Way too big to apply to any one type of business, if you're site is properly optimized for local search the new algorithm might actually help.
