Buying my first DSLR

13 years 3 months ago #10399 by Larry is Hairy
So I have a Sony point and shoot. I want to buy a DSLR, but I'm not sure where to start looking. It doesn't matter to me on the brand. I just want something to start with. What do you suggest?

Find one that offers you an easy to understand mode to start shooting in from Nikon or Canon that can grow with you as you gain experience and procure the best lenses that you can afford . Try buying used from a reputable source like B & H out of New York or any of the big sponsors of this site. Your local camera store may have used lenses or rental lenses for you to try out so you can find what you like/need before you invest a bunch of money on glass. I would look into a Nikon D80 or D90 and a 35-105mm lens to start out
