how do you work shutter speed on minolta film camera

how do you work shutter speed on a minolta film camera. i have been trying to figure out tonight tonight and also what is a bulb. and right now i have the camera on program and manual too and still cant figure it out

ok... so apparently my wife and i are not going out tonight now... plans have changed

specifically camera do you have?

when you set your camera to "S" or "Shutter", you can pick your desired shutter speed (by rotating the little dial most likely by your pointer finger or thumb). Your camera will automatically select the aperture for you.

When the camera is set to "A" or "Aperture" mode, you can select your desired aperture (again by rotating the little dial most likely by your pointer finger or thumb). Your camera will automatically selects the shutter speed for you.

So you can pick which ever is most important to you (shutter speed or aperture) and the camera will automatically select the opposite of what you picked. That way if you want to shoot at f/11, you can lock it in by selecting it, your camera wont change f/11 until "you" change it, and your camera will also pick what it thinks the correct shutter speed should be.

Bulb is for real long shutter speeds. usually for 30 seconds or more in which you will need a tripod and a shutter release cable or you can just hold the button for "your" desired length of time that you want your shutter to be open..... bulb is for very low light photography like for night time or star trails..............

minolta maxxum 5000 and it is a SLR camera film im useing my dad camera and i dont know how to change the shutter speed i went through the manual and i dont see how it does yet

under manual i see a speed has 1, 2,4, m bulb 8, 15, 30, 60 100,125 250 500 1000 2000
and i dont know if that is the shutter speed on it but that is what it say in the viewwindow help me please

but when i put it under program i won't do shutter speed i tried both ways and also i push the shutter button down to see if i can get a green light too when it is focus in.

this weekend my husband is going to take me out and shoot pictures of stuff and i want to use the shutter speed . and i will use the light meter too when i use the shutter speed. going out this weekend and looking for birds and ducks and lake too gigggles

With my maxxum QTsi the cameras f stops are set with the lense ad the shutter speed with the mode it is in and the light sensor.
