In an economic environment dominated by huge global corporations, it’s wonderful to see that family-owned companies can not only survive, but also thrive and do so for many generations. Such is the story of Hunt’s Photo & Video, New England’s Largest Photography Retailer, with locations in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine and Rhode Island and operated by the third generation of the Farber family.

Although corporations do their best to provide personalized customer service, you can be assured that the people at Hunt’s are experts at helping each customer find the photo and/or video equipment they want and at a very competitive price, plus these people that know their stuff. They have an enormous selection of photo printers, but any of the 5 below is sure to please every photographer on your holiday gift list.

1.Mitsubishi CP-K60DW-S Two-in-One Compact Photo Printer

Although the Mitsubishi CP-K60DW-S Two-in-One Compact Photo Printer produces excellent digital photo prints, it was specifically designed for event photographers and use in photo booths. The reasons are many. First, it’s compact and lightweight, at 10.8’ x 17.6” x 6.7” and 26.5 lbs. Second, it’s high-speed, producing a 4” x 6” print in just 11 seconds. Third, it will print 4 different print sizes – 2” x 6”, 4” x 6”, 6” x 6” and 6” x 8” – on the same 6-inch roll of media. Plus, you can offer your customers high-resolution prints in glossy or matte surfaces. You’ll also like the printer’s capability to store four 4” x 6” images, printing them faster, so you can serve more customers during a shorter period of time. The Mitsubishi CP-K60DW-S Two-in-One Compact Photo Printer is compatible with Windows XP/Vista 7/8 at 32-bit, Windows XP/Vista 7/8 at 64-bit and Mac OS 10.5 through 10.8. Connectivity is High-Speed USB v. 2.0.

2.Canon PIXMA PRO-10 Wireless Professional Inkjet Printer

What has made the Canon PIXMA PRO-10 Wireless Professional Inkjet Printer such a winner with pros and serious amateurs is that it faithfully reproduces your images as you originally envisioned and captured them. Technology is also at the forefront of why so many pros choose the PIXMA PRO-10. Its built with the same Optimum Image Generating System found in all PIXMA PRO printers, which carefully evaluates each area of the image and applies the optimum ink mixture to the colors that match the composition in your head. The PIXMA PRO-10 also features the new 10-color LUCIA pigment ink system with numerous benefits for your photography. First, the prints produced are of genuine archival quality because the inks are pigment-based. Second, the Chroma Optimizer applies the ink so smoothly that it’s almost impossible to see any metamarism and bronzing. Third, the ink system includes three black inks, so your monochrome work pops and shines. You’ll easily make the PIXMA PRO-10 an essential component of your workflow with Wi-Fi, Ethernet and USB connectivity and the new Print Studio Pro2 plug-in software that perfectly complements many photo applications.

3.Canon PIXMA PRO-100 Wireless Professional Inkjet Printer

Choosing the Canon PIXMA PRO-100 Wireless Professional Inkjet Printer will save you a little money compared to the PIXMA PRO-10, but you lose very little if any quality, versatility and performance. The PIXMA PRO-100 is also designed with the Optimum Image Generating System; Wi-Fi, Ethernet and USB connectivity; and the new Print Studio Pro2 plug-in software. Paper sizes range from 4” x 6” to 13” x 19” and you can use plain, super high gloss, glossy, semi-gloss, matte and fine art papers. Your images are transferred with the 8-ink dye-based ChromaLife 100+ system. Its incredible color gamut will give your prints such vividness that you may have to stop people from stepping into them. The PIXMA PRO-100 also features Canon Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE), which applies microscopic droplet of ink, creating high-resolution prints to 4,800 x 2,400 dpi.

4.Epson Stylus Pro 3880 Printer 17” Large Format Printer

When only gallery-quality color and black-and-white imaging as large as 17” x 22” will do, then you want the Epson Stylus Pro 3880 Printer 17” Large Format Printer. This is desktop professional printing at its finest, but in an amazingly small footprint, comparable to many 13-inch printers. As always, it’s the technology in the box that counts and few companies have the reputation of Epson for pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. At the top of the list is the Epson UltraChrome® K3 Vivid Magenta Ink Technology with an 8-color ink set and three levels of black. Then, there is the MicroPiezo AMC™ print head. Its Advanced Meniscus Control seems to apply ink magically to produce unimaginably detail – but you’ll see it right in front of your eyes. Third on the list of outstanding innovations in the Epson 3880 Pro Printer is AccuPhoto™ HD2 technology that reproduces highlights and shadow details at a dizzying level of accuracy. The media options are equally amazing, from almost any cut-sheet media from 4” x 6” to 17” x 22”, letter size photographic media, 1.5 mm-thick posterboard and manual printing on both sides of specialty media.

5.Epson Stylus Photo R3000 Ink Jet Printer

The Epson Stylus Photo R3000 Ink Jet Printer doesn’t quite deliver all the features of its big brother, the Pro Stylus 3880, but it comes very close. The R3000 includes the big three technologies of the 3880: Epson UltraChrome® K3 Vivid Magenta Ink Technology, MicroPiezo AMC™ print head and AccuPhoto™ HD2 technology. The maximum paper width of the R3000 is “only” 13 inches, but with a maximum printable area of 13” x 44”; and it can also accommodate 13” x 19” and 3.5” x 5” cut-sheet sizes. All of these capabilities are also contained in a compact footprint, at 24.2” x 14.5” x 9”. An outstanding feature of the R3000 is its front-in, front-out media path for fine art media as much as 1.3 mm thick. The ink array includes 9 individual 25.9 ml cartridges and auto switching from Photo and Matte black inks. The R3000 also features robust connectivity technology, with built-in Ethernet®, wireless 802.11n and High-Speed USB 2.0.
