1. pocketwizzard image Serious photographers and professionals don’t have time to wait for an open channel to trigger remote cameras or flashes…time is money! The new PocketWizard Plus III Transceiver was designed with 16 standard channels and 16 Quad-Zone Triggering channels, so wherever your assignments take you, you’ll have one-button access to an open channel.

  1. Those 16 channels of Quad-Zone Triggering are particularly beneficial, as they allow you to remain with your primary camera and remotely engage and disengage other flashes and cameras. They can be configured for 4 different zones, which you control from the PocketWizard Plus III Transceiver.

  1. Another timesaver is the PocketWizard’s Auto-Sensing Transceiver Technology. Select “TxRx,” and this technology automatically changes from transmitter to receiver mode, and back again. In addition, you can select “transmit (Tx)” or “receive (Rx)” when this is the only function you want.

  1. Control a remote camera in the same manner as you do a primary camera with the PocketWizard Plus III Transceiver’s Two-Stage Triggering. Just as with the two-step action of a camera’s shutter release button, you can press the Transceiver’s TEST button halfway to activate a remote camera’s metering and focusing functions. Press the Test button completely and the shutter is released. Once the image is recorded, the remote camera resumes the sleep mode. The same control is possible from your primary camera with the configuration of a PocketWizard Plus III Transceiver (as a receiver), MultiMAX or FlexTT5, and ACC Pre-Trigger cables.

  1. For even more control of the synchronized firing of a remote camera and flashes, use the Auto-Relay Mode. Connect a PocketWizard Plus III Transceiver to the camera and another to the flash unit. Then, from the third, or primary, transceiver, send a signal with a press of the TEST button to the camera’s transceiver to activate its motor drive. Then, use the transmit mode to fire the remote flash via its transceiver, automatically and totally synchronized.

  1. Often, the critical factor in using a remote triggering device is the distance it will work. Although the PocketWizard Plus III Transceiver is capable of communicating as much as 1,600 feet (500 meters), LPA Design, the manufacturer, knows that the environments in which serious and professional photographers shoot require even more versatile long-distance triggering options. When your creative vision extends beyond 1,600 feet, select the Long Range Mode for almost twice as much signaling distance. You can send a triggering signal even farther when you use a second Plus III (in Repeater Mode) to relay the signal from your primary transceiver to the receiver.

  1. When the subject or assignment requires a faster frames-per-second rate, kick the PocketWizard Plus III Transceiver into overdrive. Its standard 12fps delivers plenty of speed for most jobs, but select the High-Speed Receive Mode and the remote triggering rate accelerates to as much as 14.5fps.

  1. You don’t have time to surf through a complicated user interface either, which is why the PocketWizard Plus III Transceiver makes it easy to access all channels, zones and modes from a simple keypad. Activating the backlit 1-inch (2.5cm) LCD display is equally convenient with the push of any button (except for TEST).

  1. Whether you’re shooting with a focal plane shutter or leaf shutter, the PocketWizard Plus III Transceiver is built with extremely-fast microprocessors that deliver matching sync speeds: 1/250 and 1/500, respectively.

  1. Connectivity options are also a must for any serious photographer relying on the Plus III. Connection to your camera is via the hot shoe and with no cable fumbling. For flash connectivity, each Plus III provides the option of a miniphone-to-miniphone cable and a miniphone-to-phono adapter. Even more solutions are available, with a miniphone-to-locking-PC cable to trip some remote speedlights. You can also use this connectivity option if the Plus III won’t attach to the hot shoe.

  1. LPA Design also gave the PocketWizard Plus III Transceiver the durability for accurate operations during a long life. The design team also placed the antenna within the body of the transceiver, which not only protects it, but also makes it easier to view and/or direct your subject, without the antenna interfering with your sightline.

  1. The PocketWizard Plus III Transceiver can be pre-ordered from B&H Photo Video for just $139.00. The projected ship date is mid-March 2012. For more information, visit http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=pocketwizard+plus+iii&N=0&InitialSearch=yes.
