New Canon Camera Rumors
The Canon EOS R is only a few months old, and the EOS RP was just released. Yet Canon reportedly has three more EOS R cameras in the works.
Before you get too excited, the details on these cameras are quite sparse. There is also no firm timetable for the release of these cameras.
Below, get all the details on current Canon EOS R rumors as well as a quick overview of the existing EOS R cameras.

Canon EOS R Rumors

What is known, however, is that one of the cameras will have 8K video recording. Another Canon rumor revolves around a high-megapixel version with a 70-megapixel sensor and in-body image stabilization. Yet another rumor indicates that Canon might also be working on an ultra-high-megapixel EOS R, possibly with a 100-megapixel sensor.
The latter two rumors could be one-in-the-same, but whether the camera has 70-megapixels of 100-megapixels, it’ll be a beast.
Rumors hint that the high-megapixel camera will be released sometime this year. Even if it isn’t, the certainty level that Canon will unveil such a camera is at 100-percent.

Other scuttlebutt points to the next EOS R camera will sport dual card slots and a joystick.
Whatever features the next EOS R cameras have, they are sure to be impressive. Canon is obviously going headlong into the mirrorless market and needs to develop professional-grade cameras to expand the EOS R lineup.
Canon has already announced six new upcoming lenses, five of which are L-series, so their concentration on higher-end products is obvious.
Below are quick overviews of the existing EOS R cameras.
Canon EOS R Review
The EOS R has been widely regarded as a good camera, but certainly nothing groundbreaking or spectacular.
The system has a 30.3-megapixel sensor with a DIGIC 8 image processor. It sports a native ISO range of 100-40000 that expands to 50-102400 and an autofocus system that is sensitive to -6 EV.
The EOS R has 4K video recording, but that’s at a 1.8x crop, which isn’t ideal. The camera also only has one SD UHS-II card slot.
The lack of 4K video performance and the single card slot are among the biggest gripes about the EOS R. My guess is that Canon has taken that to heart, thus the rumor that the next EOS R models will have 8K video and dual card slots.

Canon EOS RP Review
If the EOS R was aimed at enthusiast photographers, the EOS RP is squarely aimed at beginners and budget-minded buyers.
Built around a 26.2-megapixel sensor, the EOS RP offers more than enough resolution for photographers that don’t need to make large prints or heavily crop their images.
Like the EOS R, the EOS RP has a DIGIC 8 image processor, Dual Pixel autofocus, and a fully articulating 3-inch touchscreen LCD. Both cameras also feature a base ISO range of 100-40000, 4K video, and a 2.36-million dot electronic viewfinder.
Though some Canon shooters have been underwhelmed with the EOS RP, it wasn’t intended to be a showstopping, high-end camera.
As noted above, those cameras should be coming down the pike sometime this year.
