A New Way to Carry Your Camera Gear
I’m a gearhead, there is no denying it…
Some would say that I have Gear Acquisition Syndrome (GAS), but it’s not that I buy tons of gear just for the sake of it. I only buy what I need so that I can get the shots I want.
Besides, I love talking about gear, and I especially like checking out new-to-market items.
Holdfast, one of my favorite leather camera gear makers, just dropped this new belt, the Tanker Belt, so, of course, I have to talk about it!
As you can see in the video above, this badass belt is 18-inches of beautiful handmade leather.
It’s actually two layers of belt that’s specifically designed to carry your gear on your hips without the belt sliding down.
What’s more, as Matt Swaggart, the brains behind Holdfast, notes in the video, the Tanker Belt was specifically designed not to pull your pants down.
I certainly appreciate having my pants stay where they need to be, and I know that people that might be behind me also appreciate it!
The first belt cinches around your waist like a normal belt while the second belt attaches and forms loops where you can hang your gear.
The Tanker Belt also comes with 3 D-rings (which are moveable, so you can put them wherever works best for you) to carry your personal items like keys or a wallet.
Tanker Belt Pairings
One of the best things about Holdfast products is that they are so versatile and can pair with one another to improve their functionality. The Tanker Belt is no different.
Ranger Leash
This product is too cool to not show you the video…
The Ranger Leash, which can attach directly to the Tanker Belt, allows you to take your pup out on day-long shoots with you without worry that he’ll get away.
It’s made out of a solid piece of 10-12 ounce leather and can be worn in a variety of ways, including as a wrist strap when you don’t need or want your puppers hooked to your Tanker Belt.
Sightseer Pouches
Holdfast has a few pouches in their Sightseer lineup: one for cell phones (shown above) and lens pouches (small, medium, or large) to accommodate different sizes, shown below.
Each one of these pouches can directly attach to the Tanker Belt for easier and faster shooting. And if you have a Sightseer Bag or Sightseer Backpack, they’ll attach to loops on the outside of the bag. If you have a MoneyMaker camera harness, you can carry them with that as well!

Explorer Lens Pouch
If you need something a little bigger for your lenses, you can pair the Tanker Belt with the Explorer Lens Pouch.
As you can see above, this pouch can accommodate a couple of lenses and a flash, with room left over for small items like spare batteries and memory cards.
The waxed canvas and leather exterior not only looks fantastic, but it’s also weather-resistant so you can keep on shooting even if Mother Nature isn’t exactly cooperating.
The plush sheepskin-lined interior is a nice touch too, which cradles your lenses and other gear so it stays safe and sound while you adventure.
Why You Need the Tanker Belt
Aside from the incredible functionality and versatility that this belt provides, it’s just incredibly well made and looks really, really good.
A big part of being a professional photographer is looking the part. How you present yourself is critical.
On the one hand, the tanker belt looks like a million bucks, so it would be at home at formal functions like weddings where you need to look your best.
When you want to look the part of being a pro, it’s hard to beat Holdfast products. They are impeccably made, to say the least.
The Tanker Belt comes in an array of classic colors (black, tan, chestnut, and burgandy) so I know when I purchase one I’ll be able to wear it forever without looking outdated.
The belts range in size from 28” to 44” and are available for $175.00. Though that’s not a bargain-basement price, consider this - it’ll be the last gear belt you ever need! The quality of construction and materials ensures it’ll last you for years and years to come.
