I don’t know about you, but camera bags are one photography accessory that I obsess about.
For me, the success of the shoot starts with having a bag that’ll perform well, that’s durable, that’s functional, and that’s comfortable.
Unfortunately, many bags don’t tick all those boxes. But the Holdfast Sightseer system sure does…
If you’ve never heard of the Sightseer, allow me to introduce you to it and explain why this is the bag for you.

Camera Bag Tips: A Modular Camera Bag is the Way to Go
Not every photography outing is the same. You might need a different camera body, different lenses, and different accessories than the last shoot you had.
That being the case, a modular camera bag system like the Sightseer is a perfect solution.
I’ve had huge camera bags in the past that could be reconfigured to accommodate different types of gear, but sometimes I didn’t have a huge kit, and therefore didn’t need a huge bag.

The Sightseer solves that problem because you can use the bag on its own and carry everything you need, including a camera body, a couple of lenses, a laptop, and more.
But on those occasions when you need a little more gear, you can simply add lens pouches to the exterior of the bag, creating more room inside for a second camera body without sacrificing your ability to carry an additional lens or two.

Camera Bag Tips: Get a Bag That Can Be Carried Multiple Ways
I love a good camera backpack, but the problem with them is that you’re locked into carrying it one way.
And while sling or shoulder bags can be carried over the shoulder or across the body, in many cases, neither arrangement necessarily works for each shoot.
Again, the Sightseer has been designed to cater to all sorts of carrying situations.
The Sightseer comes with a shoulder strap, so it can be worn as a shoulder bag or a sling bag.
But, again, the modular nature of this bag comes into play because it can also be worn with Holdfast’s MoneyMaker dual camera strap.
As you can see above, the bag simply clips onto the back of the MoneyMaker for easy carrying. It hangs low on your back so it’s easy to access without taking it off the harness.
I personally prefer the Sightseer-MoneyMaker combination because I can carry even more gear (the MoneyMaker allows for up to three cameras to be carried on the front of the harness) but I don’t feel bogged down.
That is, the MoneyMaker is so incredibly comfortable and it does such a good job of keeping all your gear balanced, that you can shoot for hours on end, even if your Sightseer bag is full up and you have multiple cameras on the front of the MoneyMaker.

And, as mentioned before, what’s so great about this system is that it can easily adapt to your needs.
Load up the Sightseer and the MoneyMaker for an intense shoot one day, and the next day simply carry the Sightseer by itself for a casual shoot.

Camera Bag Tips: Durability is a Top Priority
When I first started out in photography, I bought the cheapest camera bag I could find because I didn’t understand the value of having a solid bag to protect my gear.
Needless to say, that bag didn’t last long…
Cheap materials and poor build quality means that bargain-basement camera bags will wear out much faster than those that are crafted for years and years of use. That’s why durability should be a top priority in your search for an ideal camera bag.
I have to say that Holdfast takes the durability issue up a notch.
I have several of their products - the Sightseer among them - and the waxed canvas exterior beats just about anything in the durability department.
It’s a weatherproof, tough material that you can trust to protect your gear. The leather components are just the same - and they both look great!
I’ve put my Sightseer bag and lens pouches through their paces, and they’ve been up to the challenge whether I’m shooting at the beach, in the city, in the mountains, or points in between.
These things are rugged, durable, they look good, and as I’ve explained above, they’re the height of functionality, too.
That’s exactly what I want in a camera bag, don’t you? See for yourself...check out the Holdfast Sightseer system.
