Description

The Nikkor-Micro 105mm f/2.8 is, in short, Nikon's best macro option. Capable of a 1:1 reproduction ratio, the lens will get you in close to your subject. While the f/2.8 aperture isn't completely necessary for macro shots (since getting in close will also soften the background), the speed means that sweet spot is at a brighter focal length than slower options--and of course you could use the lens for other uses as well. The lens is exceptionally sharp and has the highest DxOMark rating for Nikon macro lenses.

As Nikon's sharpest macro lens, this 105 mm comes in at around a grand, out of reach for many hobbyists. And while the 105mm focal length may seem like a longer lens, for macro work, many photographers prefer something that doesn't require getting in so close. Despite those shortcomings, the sharpness and 1:1 reproduction ratio make this lens Nikon's top macro.
