The Olympus TG-4 is a waterproof camera that's good enough for even serious photographers to consider as a personal camera for conditions that are too dangerous for a DSLR. The TG-4 is a consumer compact, but offers a bright f/2 - f/4.9 lens which is excellent for the category and offers better low light performance. The camera is rated to go underwater as deep as 50 feet and it's also crushproof to 220 lbf. and shockproof to seven feet. There's even RAW shooting, GPS and a compass. The TG-4 offers an excellent super macro mode that focuses as close as .4 inches.
The Olympus TG-4 is a consumer compact, so there are a few things enthusiasts and pros will certainly find missing. The sensor is the average 1/2.3" size for compact cameras and the zoom is fairly minimal at 4x. Only two manual modes are included: Programed auto and aperture priority. But, the bright lens and sturdy body make the TG-4 the best waterproof consumer camera on the market, and the RAW and aperture priority is enough to entice some more serious photographers that don't want to risk damaging their gear taking simple snapshots at a family beach trip.
