The Canon EOS 1DX came out nearly a decade ago, but it is still one of the best, most affordable options for professional photographers.
When the Canon 1DX first came out, its purpose was to replace Canon’s leading sports photography camera and leading studio camera, and it did so with reckless abandon.
This camera blew every other Canon out of the water in no time.
And that has to do with its specs...
Canon EOS 1DX Specs
The Canon EOS 1DX features an 18MP full-frame sensor, a 14fps burst mode, and an impressive ISO range for low light shooting.
I write reviews on PhotographyTalk regularly, and this Canon trumps many cameras that came out in 2015.

Canon EOS 1DX Body & Design
The Canon EOS 1DX body is pretty similar to that of other Canon 1D cameras. So, if you’re transitioning, you can expect an easy transition.
However, there are a few changes to the 1DX that make it much easier to use, like the addition of a second joystick on the back of the camera and the customizable twin buttons right next to the lens on the front of the camera, which are wholly more useful than I immediately imagined them to be.
Additionally, there is now a customizable button where the flash exposure lock used to be and a “Q” button to allow you to access your functions at literally the touch of a button.
Canon EOS 1DX Build & Handling
DigalRev TV gives a great hands-on review of what it’s like to work with the Canon EOS 1DX. But, it’s essentially what you would expect of Canon’s 1D line… chunky.
While it isn’t the most comfortable camera to hold, it is solidly weather-proofed and performs under almost every single condition.
But, don’t think that you’re going to get away with shooting on the 1DX with just a single hand, because there are far too many customizable buttons for that.
Some people may call this design antiquated, but I call it reliable.
Canon EOS 1DX Video Performance
Nobody can better explain a camera than the camera’s manufacturer, which is exactly what Canon has done in this breathtaking video test shoot.
While Canon’s EOS 1DX is too old to feature 4K video, it’s Full 1080p HD video is breathtaking.
As you can see in Vodozine’s video, the video quality is clear, colorful and fun.
Canon EOS 1DX Price
The Canon EOS 1DX is no longer available new, but you can score one off of MPB for just $1,200.
That’s a great price for a camera that has the functions and features of this thing. But I get that some folks just aren’t down with buying used gear.
But buying used gear from MPB is different. Everything is closely inspected and graded, so you know if the item you like is in “like-new” condition or if it’s just “good.”
What’s more, MPB offers a six-month warranty on most items, so you can rest assured that if something goes wrong, you’ve got a way to rectify the situation.
I’ve bought (and sold) many cameras and lenses on MPB over the years, and they’ve never let me down. If you’re in the market for a pro-spec camera on the cheap, I highly recommend MPB as your go-to resource!
