The Sedlec Ossuary, otherwise known as the "church of bones," is one of the top tourist attractions in the Czech Republic. But, thanks to bad tourist behavior, selfies will be banned there beginning in just a few short months.
The church of bones is located about 45 miles outside of Prague, in a tiny town of 20,000 people. If you google, "Kutna Hora," one of the first questions to pop up is whether the town is even worth visiting at all.
But, those who decide it is, are going to see the church of bones. 60,000 skeletons found on the site (many churches also acted as graveyards for thousands of years) have been used to decorate the building.
There is even a chandelier made of human bones.
500,000 tourists come to the town to see the church every year. But, if you want to take a selfie with the skeletons you will need to visit before January.
Radka Krejci, the director of the Sedlec parish, is severely restricting photography in the church beginning in 2020.
"We believe that our visitors will respect this decision and at the same time understand the reasons that led us to this step," Krejci told members of the Czech Republic media.
The reasons that led to this step are selfies people try to take with the skeletons. People have put hats and sunglasses on the skeletons removed the bones altogether and have kissed them for their photographs.
While photography isn't banned altogether, you will be required to get a pass 3-days out from your visit.
The church doesn't know exactly what this will look like yet.
