GDU Byrd vs DJI Phantom Pro 4?

5 years 10 months ago #585618 by Eric A
I was getting ready to pick up one of the Phantom 4's and just noticed this GDU Byrd that has interchangeable gimbal heads on it.  Very interesting.  Do you know anything about this company and this drone?

Hmm, never heard of that GDU one.  Looks slick.  Flight time looks good too.  Didn't find to many reviews on it.  DJI should be due for new Phantom 5 soon.

Where is the controller to the Byrd?  There are no photos showing what it looks like.

You realize the photos you just posted is of their smaller Mavic competitor drone O2, not the Byrd model.

If DJI could get their customer service nailed down, they would be unstoppable.  However that it not the case and their customer service is awful IMO.  To be frank, this GDU, I've never heard before.  The specs look pretty good, however as pointed out, reviews are limited.  And I can't easily find photos of the controller either.

Never heard of the GDU Byrd and with almost no details of it, it's hard to tell if is good or not. But what's sure is that the DJI Phantom 4 is one of the best camera drones. I might choose the known brand.

That's slick that you can swap out the gimbal heads on those

GDU has been around for a few years.  I think they started out as Prodrone a few years ago. Something happened and they went silent for a bit before surfacing as GDU.  Good to see they jumped back.

Will be nice to see other companies get traction that will stabilize DJI's market share.  Which is good for all of us!
