Dumbell Nebula with a 70-200mm and a 2x teleconverter?

Slowly and painfully would be the honest answer. A guy told me starting out that the learning curve is steep. He was dead on. I've made, I believe, every possible mistake and dead end one can do. So I have a pretty good breadth of knowledge mostly based on failure :)

I've helped a lot of people so anyone that would like to know something just ask.

The other aspect is what you expect. If you just want a nice picture of the moon or a decent shot of the Orion Nebula, that can be relatively easy. They are both very bright. As anything getting to be really, really good is very hard and can be very expensive.

No kidding.  Good to know!  So let me ask you, if you had to start over, what would you do differently?
