Tell Ed not to buy the tablet, get him to book you onto a photography course where you could learn loads, those eagle photos are good, as far as I can see all you need to focus on is your focus scuse the pun    way to go Penny

#1 is out of focus. Either the bird was moving or the camera was focused on the awning just behind the bird. A faster shutter speed or focusing manually on the bird might have helped this one...

#2 is really overexposed because you were shooting into the sun. This is a hard way to get a good image. Whenever you can you should put the sun behind you.

#3 is better as the sky is light blue but the shadows are costing you some details. Sun to the back if possible.

The tablet might have gotten a better exposure because of the settings it uses in the auto mode. Also you were looking at the image on the much larger sized screen of the pad. Taken from the cameras and looking at them side by side might have improved what you were seeing in your shots.

Keep practicing Penny, you continue to get better each time you show us your shots. Visit more often too. I'm not the only one that misses you I know.

That is a focusing problem, not a shutter problem because there is no motion blur. She was probably within several feet of the bird, set moderately wide open and somehow focused on the trailer in the background.

thank GOD you really got the necessary comments from the pros here. In simple terms, a DSLR is for serious photography and you should know how to use to to get the perfect pic. A tablet is something you use for multiple purposes like computation, word processing, a bit of games and movies which also has a camera. Itz like comparing an SUV with a toycar ! Sorry, I dont find anyother comparison..LOL

The tablet wouldn't have gotten any better of a exposure compare to her camera, because it's the photographer who takes the pictures, not the tool in hand. You gave Penny good feedback on the posted photos, but she needs more photography practice and learning of her camera to get the correct exposure/less blur of those shots.
