How do you ask permission to photograph someone on the street?

Who do you go about getting permission to take someones photo on the street?

Just ask, then if they say yes, show them the photo afterwards

Are you trying to catch them in their environment doing what they do or are you trying to do a portrait on the street?

If the former, just take the shot. If they notice you then just smile and give them a friendly nod.

If the latter, just say they look cool and you want to take their photo.  Get them to stand/sit however you want and take the photo.

:agree: once a person knows you are going to take their photo, they never seem to give the same look
