Newbie Question?

8 years 5 months ago #457434 by Riverviewgirl
Hello everyone, I was at a friends house and she was cleaning out her closets as she is recently divorced and I was given two lenses. One was a Canon EF 75-300 lens and a 58 mm HD 0.45x wide angle with macro lens. She knows that I love photography and her ex left these behind and did not want them so she gave them to me.

My question is: Out of curiosity - I haven't tried these yet but what kind of photos can I take with these. Ex..closeup, far away shots etc. Anyone have any photo examples using these lenses. I have a Nikon D90 and a Canon Rebel EOS SL1 both with stock lenses can I use these lenses with both of these cameras or are they not interchangeable? Oh and I need mount flashes for both of these - is there a universal flash I can use or do I need to buy two flashes, one for each camera? I have a budget of less than 250 dollars for now - any suggestions on what flashes I can get? Thanks for your help ..would love suggestions.

Thanks

Canon and Nikon have different mounts so the lenses are not interchangeable. The 75-300 is designed for mid range to telephoto images......wildlife etc. Your camera (SL1) has an APS-C sensor which is not 35mm therefore there is a crop factor of 1.6 making this lens the lens power actually 120-480 mm equivalent. The other lens, I think you are actually looking at the circumference of the lens (58 mm).  As for flashes, Neewer, Nissan and Metz, to name a few, make less expensive lenses. Remember though, when looking at flashes, you probably want the TTL feature so the camera and flash communicate.
