Need help! (Beginner)

I am starting to learn wildlife photography and I have some subjects under the shade. When I try to check my work, it turned out that the shaded part is so dark that the subject is no longer that visible. My questions is:
How do you take a picture with strong sun and strong shade and that the shade doesn’t turn black?

Spot meter on the most important part of the scene. In other words, set the exposure on the part of the scene you definitely want to be exposed properly. The rest will just fall where it falls. That's all you can do unless you go the HDR route or the scene lends itself to graduated ND filters.

Trial and error is less elegant, but also works, so long as the subject is stationary.  In any of the semi-auto modes first set the EC to +1.5 (or so),  also set AE bracket to 1 full stop.  Blast away.  Later pick the best exposure of the set.
