Photography Workshop vs tour?

Can someone tell me why some companies refer to themselves as a "workshop" and others as a "tour".  Aren't they the same?

In my experience, a workshop is much more hands-on than a tour. A workshop usually has a pro photographer along for the ride and does classes throughout the trip that are focused on helping you become a better photographer. This includes daily feedback on your work. Workshops also tend to be much more intensive, so you might get up at the crack of dawn and stay out in the field until the sun sets. A tour, on the other hand, might not have a photographer along, and they tend to be very schedule oriented, so you go from point A to point B to point C without deviation. That's been my experience anyway.

:agree:
Yeah pretty much. Think of a tour as go somewhere, then you must be back to the bus in so many minutes.
Neither one appeals to me as they are structured, and I hate anything structured when it comes to my hobbies.

A workshop make take place entirely at one location, no travel time.  Obviously that will not be the case for a tour.
