Best focal length lens for weddings

What is considered to be the most used focal length in weddings these days?  Is it the 85mm or 24-70mm?

I'm just doing some research on what I'll be needing.

I´d say the 24-70mm because of the zoom range is more versatile, we also used the 85mm 1.4 for shallower dof portraits.
The 24.70mm / 70-200mm duet is probably the most used as it covers most of the range needed, we also added the 14-24mm which covers all the range needed. We also used the 105mm macro for rings / shoes and other up close creative shots. You´ll also need to be aware that a back up camera is also necessary, both cameras and lenses get knocked or dropped or can malfunction.

A 70-200 and a 50 or 35 are the pair I see used most often. And two bodies.

That said, it depends upon what you want to do. There are wedding photographers out there that only use primes. So you'd need a short, medium and long prime (24 / 50 / 135?), three bodies and good shoes. Or a second, of course.

Frankly, given what happens at a wedding, I think an obsession of primes is silly, except for formal portraits. But that's just me.

24-70 with a 70-200. Add 105 macro for details. Done.
