What is the pink edge in my photo?

5 years 1 month ago #634796 by Jan0048
Hello,

Yesterday I took some shots of the Openbill Stork and load to my S phone.

I found the pink edge on some area especially the back of the bird.

Have something wrong during post process?

Thank you.

Right, I see it!

It may appear to be pink to you but it is called "purple fringing"!
Nasty lens aberration that is not produced in PP but may be en-
hanced in the process and may be resolved there too!

Light is free… capturing it is not!

It's called "chromatic aberration" (CA) and can (usually does) occur along high contrast transitions. It can be worse in some lenses and at some apertures. You may also find green fringing along alternate edges depending upon lighting.

There's an option in LR to remove it (Lens Correction) but sometimes you need to tweak the settings manually. I'm not sure how to deal with it in Photoshop other than cloning.

Thank you for your information.

My lens is NIKKOR 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR II and my profile photo also took by this lens at the same period but do not have any problem.
May be according by high contrast transitions as you mention.

It isn't a surprise that a 10X zoom would produce some fringing.  If you stop down to f8 or f11 you may eliminate or certainly will reduce it.  No substitute for a sturdy tripod.
